Main Components

There are just six main components that make up the basic freestanding handrail system.

MAIN UPRIGHT

The long upright is also known as the 'main upright' and although this component arrives pre-assembled it actually consists of two separate components, the main upright, which sits on the roof and has the counterbalanced weight attached, and the adjustable top riser unit. The foot of the upright which rests on the roof is protected by a rubber isolation pad.

By loosening the grub screws in the body of the top riser, the unit can be moved up and down the main upright to adjust the height of the cross rails or to raise and lower the main upright.

INTERMEDIATE UPRIGHT

The intermediate upright is a shortened version of the main upright and is designed to be installed un-weighted as an intermediate support. Just as with the long upright, this component consists of two separate components but is delivered pre-assembled ready to install. The intermediate upright also features the protective rubber pad.

By loosening the grub screws in the body of the top riser, the unit can be moved up and down the main upright to adjust the height of the cross rails, or to raise and lower the intermediate upright.

2.50M CROSS RAILS

All the main rails are supplied pre-cut to 2.50m lengths for ease of installation. This fixed length means there is no need to measure or cut the tubes to ensure the uprights are spaced evenly.

The lightweight main rails are manufactured from light gauge steel making them easy to cut and transport.

All our components are finished with an anti-corrosion galvanised coating equivalent to BS EN ISO 1461.

20kg COUNTER WEIGHT

The weight is designed to be attached to each of the main uprights and is fixed in place with a small zinc coated grub screw and provides the necessary counterbalance weight to prevent the system from being moved.

Maximum resistance between the roof membrane and the weight is achieved by the use of 100% recycled rubber. This material is a naturally non abrasive material ensuring there is no damage to the roof covering.

At just 20kg the weight is easily transported and can be installed by just one person.

90 DEG SWEPT BEND

The SC90 is an ergonomically designed 90 deg swept bend. This flexible preformed component can be used for both horizontal and vertical bends and can be combined to produce a 180 deg termination know as a 'D' end. The fitting incorporates zinc coated grub screws for easy installation.

WALL FLANGE

The wall flange is just one way in which a section of guardrail can be terminated. The RC11 is designed to allow standard cross rails to be connected to a vertical structure. The cross rail is held in place by a zinc plated grubscrew located on the side of the fitting..
