The Work at Height Regulation, which was announced in 2005 and came into force on April 6th of that year, clearly set out regulations for those involved in the area of working at height.

The amendment to this regulation came into force on 6th April 2007 and applies to those who work at height or provide instruction or leadership.

As part of the Regulations duty holders must ensure:

• The risks from work at height are assessed and appropriate work equipment is selected and used;
• Use work equipment where they cannot avoid working at height

As part of the regulations schedule there are requirements for working at height, these include collective fall prevention (such as guardrails) and requirements for collective fall arrest and fall protection.

With these regulations in force it is essential to make sure you have the proper equipment and training in place to minimise any risk.
